What is a failing URL?

When you run a experior tools URL test and the report indicate that you have failing URLs. You have URLs in your test list that the server can not handle. The test got one of the following HTTP status codes from the server.

401: Unauthorized: When experior tools requested the URL we did not get autherization to read the requested URL content. One of the following solutions can solve your problem:

403: Forbidden: The experior tool requested the URL and the server understood the request but decided to refuse the request.

404: NotFound: The experior tool requested the URL and the server can not find the page. Make sure that the file exist or that the system can handle request. One of the following solutions can solve your problem:

  • Make sure to create a page to handle the URL. That could be done by create a physical page or a page in the CMS system.
  • Remove the URL from sitemap.xml.
    • If your sitemap.xml is automatically generated you may need to check why the sitemap.xml return the none existing URL.
    • In a static sitemap.xml. Remove the URL from the file.
  • If the URL is and should continue to be a none working URL. Make sure that you remove the URL from the search engine index.

408: RequestTimeout

500: InternalServerError
